I love spring (though I love each seasons…) the nature is never so green and full of colour as during this season. The nature is all blooming and it is such a nice sight.
And like every year since 2004, Linux Ubuntu is in blossom (at least for the Northern hemisphere). The next Ubuntu release has been confirmed today for release on the 19th of April. Both the desktop and server edition will be available at this date.
So what’s new in Ubuntu 7.04 (a.k.a. Feisty Fawn)?
Desktop edition
- Improved installation, now you can migrate your data from Windows to Ubuntu,
- Gnome 2.18 which includes improved visual design and tools like Tomboy (note taking), Power Manager (saves your battery),
- Easier networking with Network Manager,
- Better hardware support with easy to use restricted manager application,
- Desktop effects,
- Easier multimedia installation.
That was just to give a few…
Server edition
I haven’t had the time to test this new release. So, I will just repeat the announcement.
- Better support and optimisation for virtual machines,
- Better hardware support,
- Easier upgrade.
